steering wheel timeWell, the true time is how you place your hands on the steering wheel! So, what’s your current hand position for your steering wheel time, 10-2, 9-3, 8-4 ?

Most driving experts recommend that the “10 and 2” position. In other words, if your steering wheel was a clock, your hands would point to 10:00 and 2:00. This allows you to move the steering wheel suddenly without jerking it and losing control of the vehicle.

However, the technology of air bags have come into play after 1989 and the industry is taking a second look at safety when it comes to steering hand positioning. Did you know that recommend position may also damage your arms during and accident?

Back in the day, way before air bags, it was a good idea. However, since then air bags will hit your face first and if your arms are at the 10 and 2, you could break your arms. (ouchy!)

Its time for a fresh look at your steering clock and the high end experts or as we call them (the suits) in the industry recommend now to position your hands at 8 and 4 to allow you the same control without potentially damaging your tennis arm.

Regardless of your standard position, Don’t Panic….it’s so easy to just slide to a different clock position anytime you wish!
